Blackbirds
Blackbirds mostly eat worms. There is all kinds of blackbirds like the red breast blackbird, terrior blackbird and other diffrent kinds. My Nana and Papa have a big tree in their garden. In the tree there are two blackbirds. In the spring the blackbirds have babies in the nest and feed them food. Once I was out playing in the garden and I nearly stepped on one. The blackbirds saw me stroking the baby blackbird and they kept sqauking so I left it alone. The female blackbirds are brown and the male blackbirds are black with a yellow beak. The mother blackbird encourages the baby blackbirds to come out of the nest to learn how to feed and fly. The baby blackbird flutters and hops for a while and after three days have gone by, it begins to fly and look after itself.

Goats
Goats are very curious, intelligent, extroverted, flamboyant, and playful. For kids, play is very important because it helps them develop skills they will need later in life. For example, University of Colorado animal play expert Marc Bekoff notes that some types of play develop the mental and physical flexibility needed to respond to unexpected events such as pursuit by a predator. Some of the activities enjoyed by kids include galloping, jumping vertically into the air, leaping on their mothers’ backs, tossing their heads, and whirling around. Unlike sheep, goats have beards and pointed black horns. A "nanny" or "doe" is a female goat, a "buck" or "billy" is a male, and their children are called "kids." In the wild, goats can live anywhere from 9 to 12 years. Goats are most comfortable in groups, which are known as "tribes." Like sheep, goats are herbivores, grazing on grasses, herbs, tree leaves, and other plants. Goats are also ruminants, and chew cud to aid digestion.

Cows
Cows are used for milking and beef. Everybody has eaten beef. I hope this doesn’t put you off beef. What happens is the cows get led into a big factory, where they are milked. After they have been milked they go into a different room and are humanely killed. After they have been killed they are cut up and their body parts taken. When the meat has been cleaned it is cooked and put into packets.
Cattle spend approximately six hours each day eating and eight more hours chewing cud, a combination of semi-digested food and bile that must be further broken down before the plant fibres are digestible for the animal. Each day, cattle drink about 30 gallons of water and eat about 100 pounds of food each. Cattle have a sharp sense of hearing and perceive higher and lower frequencies better than humans do. In some ways, their eyes are also powerful tools. Cattle possess 320-degree panoramic vision, which enables them to see in almost every direction—except directly behind them—without moving their heads. However, their depth perception, particularly when their heads are in an upright position, is poor. For this reason, cattle sometimes cringe at shadows on the ground. These animals communicate with each other in a number of ways. Vocalizations or "calls" can indicate excitement, frustration, interest, pleasure or stress. Cattle may also use a call to regain contact with a companion after they've been separated; as a prime example, when newly born calves are removed from their mothers, the cow will call to her child for days. Odours are also important to their communication and behaviour, and cattle can detect smells up to five miles away.

The New Cow The new cow came though the gate, and her calf came after, a little late. No longer willing to be led, the calf went on ahead, while she stood to look around over the hills and lower ground stood shyly, defiantly there, smelling flower-fragrant air, and gazed toward the old cows grouped on the way before. Knowing not how she might stay among them, stranger still, she hesitated yet, now they had turned at the foot of the hill and seemed to wait for her at the gate, to wait for her who was strange and thin, till she came on, and they opened their ranks to take her in.

Penguins flourish in officially protected areas of Patagonia, a large region in southern Argentina. The cold ocean currents off the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego, at the southern tip of this region, provide a friendly environment for the birds, which thrive in icy climates. Penguins are beautiful creatures. They cannot fly but are very good swimmers and fish catchers.
King Penguins A colony of king penguins gathers on South Georgia, an island near the southern tip of South America. King penguins may stand about one metre (3’ 3”) tall, making them the second largest penguin species.
Penguins on Paulet Island There are lots of ice with 4000 penguins on the island. The penguin’s actual name is Adelie penguins. Some people go on the island to feed the penguin’s fish but some penguins refuse to get fed by hand and like to feed themselves fish.

Guinea pigs Guinea pigs are small rodents bred worldwide as pets and laboratory animals. Cavia porcellus, pictured here, no longer exists in the wild, but wild guinea pigs inhabit parts of South America. Guinea pigs are brilliant creatures to have.

Horses
Horses are clever things. If you have a pet horse you have a big responsability. If your horse goes to shows your horse will be popular. In Australia people kill horses for food. It is very sad because you think horses are lovely and they haven’t done anything to you what do you think the people that kill them think. My best friend Courtney has a horse called Milo. Courtney looks after her horse well. Her horse is three. Milo is a lovely horse, he has a lovely tail and mane and has a nice colour. I went to Courtney’s dads in Preston to see her horse. Courtney used to have a horse called Mini. When I went to see her horse I got to ride on Mini. Courtney doesn’t have Mini anymore but she was a brilliant show horse. Courtney is my best friend and will be forever I hope. Courtney is a horse lover. If you have a horse make sure you look after it well.
